Late Night
When Ryan and I got home (sometime around 11) and this is how we found Jackson. He had fallen asleep sitting up, next to Nate. Sunny was barely awake laying on the other couch. They had such a great time with Nate. Thanks Nate.
p.s. Just so he doesn't feel left out, the kids also love their big cousin Jared. He is 16 and really fun also. He couldn't come last night, but the kids want him to come visit really soon.

Christmas Party
This year the kids were lucky enough to get to go to two Christmas parties. Last night, Ryan and the big two went to our ward's party and talent show. They had a ball and loved seeing Santa. They are also extremely obsessed with tap dancing after watching a couple in our ward do a routine.
This morning we continued our yearly tradition of going to the breakfast at my parents ward. We were in this ward for 4 years and we love it. It is a great time to be able to see old friends and I'm always amazed at how much all my old primary kids have grown.

1st Grade Christmas Program
Here she is with her teacher Mrs. Simpson. We LOVE her. She is so great and I'm thrilled that Sunny ended up in her class. Sunny thinks she is the greatest thing ever!
Sunny and her friend Emery. Aren't they adorable? They were on the very bottom row, which meant we couldn't see Sunny...at all. Shhh, don't tell her that. I imagine that she was the best of all the kids!

Facebook 2010

A collage facebook made of some of my statuses from the past year. It's small, hope you can read it. It's been a great year with some rough patches, but we've made it through. I'm definitely thankful for my friends and family. Especially my four sweet babies!

Thanksgiving 2010
On the first round of Bingo, all three kids tied. We couldn't have planned it any better. How the heck did that happen?
Okay, so he didn't cry the whole time. He was pretty excited to eat. Food always makes him happy.
Also, for those who know, notice the new haircut. I was trying to grow his hair out and it was pretty long. It was turning into a mullet and I just couldn't stand it anymore. We buzzed it and now he has spiky hair again.
When I Grow Up...
Sunny is so adorable. She has had an obsession with Taylor for quite awhile. She knows every song from her first two cd's and sings them all the time. Yesterday I got her the new cd that just came out and this awesome Taylor t-shirt.
Sunny is so talented when it comes to music. Other people probably don't know how good she is because she is so shy, but trust me, she is amazing. She has a beautiful voice and loves to sing. Recently she decided she wanted to learn how to play the guitar. For now she is learning on Ryan's, but I think Santa is planning on bringing her one that is just her size (and made for a lefty).
She wants to be like Taylor, but I think she's going to be better. Maybe one day she'll let me video tape her so everyone can see. You'd love it...I promise.

Chicken Puffs
My blog is boring, I know. I'm having camera issues, so no new pictures. I do have Disneyland and Halloween pictures waiting though.
In the meantime, here is a yummy recipe I made today.

In the meantime, here is a yummy recipe I made today.

I present to you...the chicken puff!
The basic idea is:
About a block of cream cheese
A smidgen of milk (just enough so you can mix it all up)
Chicken (I used canned)
Green Onions ( I used about a half a bundle. I really like them, you could use less)
Garlic Powder (or fresh garlic, minced)
Mix it all up and wrap it up in a crescent roll.
Bake at 375 for about 12 minutes.
Yep, that's it. Super easy and you can also tweak it very easily. I didn't have enough cream cheese so I added a spoonful of sour cream and a bit of shredded cheese. You could also saute some onion and garlic and use that. I also think some finely chopped celery might add a nice crunch.
These are delicious. Seriously. Try them.

Cardiology Appointment
Personally, I hate blog posts without pictures. That is why I tried so hard to find the battery charger to charge the batteries for my camera. Well, I didn't find it, so no pictures. Sorry.
Ryan and I took Jack up to Primary Children's yesterday for his yearly check-up. We started off with an echocardiogram. Jack always does really well and is still, so it usually goes pretty fast. This time it took a a bit longer and the lady who was doing it left to go check and make sure she had the images she needed. She came back with a doctor and I about freaked. I thought something was wrong for sure. Turns out that neither one of them could get a good picture of where the aorta and pulmonary vein rise up into the neck (or something like that. I understood it at the time, but I can't remember anymore). They said they saw enough to know it was fine. I think the doctor just though she could get better pictures than the girl doing the echo, but she couldn't. I thought that was a little funny.
After the echo we met with his doctor. This is only our second year with this doctor and I hate to say it, but I'm not a huge fan. I've decided that he is a good doctor and he is nice enough, he just isn't our original cardiologist Dr. Bradley. So, I went in with lots of questions for him because I wanted to get a better feel for him. After talking with him a bit I am feeling better about the whole situation. One of my favorite things that he does (he did it this year and last) is that he talks directly to Jack about what he can do to help himself and his heart be healthy. He told Jack that eating healthy and exercising are the most important things we can do to help Jackson with his heart. He talked about fruits and veggies with Jack and also told him to never drink Soda or juice. (Which I don't buy anyway, and Jack was proud to tell the doctor that).
I like how he specifically directed it to Jackson and he has already come home talking about how he wants to try some different veggies and eat even healthier than he does.
The doctor discussed the results of the echo and the MRI which was done in the summer with us. Both look great. He has mild leakage of both of the valves in his heart and very mild narrowing of the pulmonary vein. Both of which are very normal after surgery and at this point don't mean anything to us other than that he is doing great. He said he expects Jack to continue to do well and doesn't anticipate any problems at this point.
We also talked a little about activity restrictions for Jack. He says for now there are none. That scares me a little, but I suppose if he can ride space mountain he will be fine playing little league sports:) Since I was still a little nervous the doctor decided to put a Holter Monitor on Jack for 24 hours. It basically records his heart rhythms on a little computer thing and then we send it back to the doctor for him to read. Jack is liking wearing it a lot. It has 3 electrodes attached to his chest that lead to the little computer thing which he sticks in his pocket. We'll get the results in a week or so.
He also had an EKG which was perfect. The whole appointment was very reassuring and I'm glad that we are done with it for this year. Next year he will do another echo, EKG, and a stress test. He is most excited to do the stress test again since it has been 2 years since he got to run on their treadmill and he loved it.
We are so grateful for all the good news about Jackson's health. I feel so fortunate that I really only think about his heart once a year at check-up time. I know so many families whose children have heart defects that are much more complex that Jack's and who spend lots of time at the hospital. I think about those families and pray for those children often. We also pray for continued good health for him, especially as winter approaches. He has had a tough time with croup and asthma each year and we are hoping he will make it though this winter without any big episodes.

Just One More For Today

I think Josh deserves the credit for this picture (or maybe Jess), but obviously I deserve at least half of the credit for this beautiful baby boy :)
Griffin had a blast on vacation. He was happy the entire time. He was like a totally different kid. He never cried and loved everything. Where did my grouchy boy go? I hope he stays this happy now that we are home.
Just a Preview
We have had an awesome vacation, and there are lots of pictures to come. Here is a little preview. After Disneyland we stopped here at St. George and spent the night Saturday night. Sunday morning we woke up and headed to the sand dunes in Snow Canyon. The kids loved it. Ryan and I decided to try and copy the picture he found the other week in Utah Valley Magazine. If you're on facebook you know what I'm talking about. (For those that don't know, there is a website called Awkward Family Photos that has really strange family pictures. Ryan found a photo of a group of 5 siblings, one girl and 4 boys, all dressed in denim and in this strange pyramid pose. It was hilarious.) So, this is our attempt at copying it.
The photo didn't turn out quite like the pyramid we were copying. I think ours is better. Check out the headlock that Lila has on Griffin. I couldn't see it, but apparently just after the picture was taken she body slammed him to the ground. In her defense, I think she was just trying to hang on to him, but I guess I'll never really know for sure.
Look at his poor little face. This pictures cracks me up :)

Fishing
I posted a couple months ago about Jack going fishing with Bear, and for some reason the pictures didn't show up. So, here is my second attempt.
Jack sure does love all the fun outdoor things he gets to do with Bear. You may think you've had fun fishing, shooting, and camping, but you have no idea how much fun it is to do those things with Bear. He is the best!

Lila's Trip to the Zoo
On Mom's birthday (Sept 13th), she and Dad had the day off of school and they decided to take Lila to the zoo. Lila was so excited for her special day with Bear and Mimi. She was especially proud that she got to go by herself (apparently that's a big deal when your child #3:)
She had a great day and still talks about how much fun it was. Thanks Mimi and Bear!

A Yummy Recipe
I made this for dinner tonight. I found the recipe on www.allrecipe.com and it turned out pretty good. I tweaked it a little bit. I added an extra can of beans, a whole (small) jar of salsa, and if I would've had them I would've added garlic and onion. I also made a side of brown rice to go with it.
Ryan really liked it. They kids were iffy at first...I don't know why, we eat lots of Mexican food around here, but they ended up liking it well enough.

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3/4 pound cubed skinless, boneless chicken breast meat
- 1/2 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix
- 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (8.75 ounce) can sweet corn, drained
- 1/4 cup salsa
- water as needed
- 1 cup shredded Mexican-style cheese
- 1 1/2 cups crushed plain tortilla chips
Directions
- In a large skillet over medium high heat, saute chicken in oil until cooked through and no longer pink inside. Add taco seasoning, beans, corn, salsa and a little water to prevent drying out. Cover skillet and simmer over medium low heat for 10 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Transfer chicken mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with 1/2 cup of the cheese and crushed tortilla chips.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Add remaining 1/2 cup cheese and bake until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Black Eye
This was last night, and even though the lighting is bad, you can still see how black it is. Today is worse, but I didn't take a picture. Sunny had a sub today and she said the sub wanted to know what happened and lots of people at school asked her about it.
Oh yeah, and I realized picture day is Thursday. Cool. Not.
p.s. Don't you love her little dimple!

Poor Sunny
I asked to talk to Sunny and she could hardly talk because she was sobbing. She choked out that she wanted to go home, so I hopped in the car and got her. Her little cheek is in pretty bad shape. They weren't kidding when the said it was pretty bad.
Luckily, today was a minimal day and they were going to get out of school at 1:30, so she only missed 2 hours of school. And on another good note, her teacher even came to the office to check on her. (We love Mrs. Simpson)
She is watching Tom & Jerry now, and I can tell she is hurting, but I knew she was going to be okay when she turned to me and asked, "Can I still play with Caitlin today?" and "Can I put make-up on over the bruise?" That's my girl!
Sunday
Just a couple pictures of my girls before church. Sunny was loving her Matilda Jane outfit. I love it too. This outfit screams Sunny to me.
Cool Friends
My kids also have some of the best friends ever. For some reason, my kids and Brittainey's kids match up perfectly. Little Tylee (on the left) and Lila are best friends. They are so cute and love to spend time together. Jessen and Jax are best buds, and of course Sunny and Caitlin are completely inseparable. She also has an adorable baby girl (who I may or may not spend most of my time holding) who is going to be great friends with little G. Once he gets over this grouchy -I hate everything- phase.
