Like mother like son?

Last night Jackson was supposed to go to sleep, but was allowed to play in his room for awhile. After awhile I decided to go turn off his light and found him in his snow pants and coat for some strange reason so I took some pictures cause it was pretty funny. About two hours later he woke up sweating and complaining about how hot he was. Sarah also does strange things like this. Today I asked him why he put his snow clothes on and he told me he was getting cold. In the next picture you will notice the amount of toys he puts on his bed to sleep with every night. I had to take about 10 other toys off his bed so he could sleep. I noticed he had also stuffed toys in his pillowcase, which I had to remove.
Lila is cute.

My Favorite Baby Gift

Those of you who know me know that I am a complete baby hog. I hate letting other people hold my baby. Lila is 2 weeks old and my Mom has held her 2 or 3 times and my Dad has held her once. Ryan pretty much only gets her when I'm in the shower, or when he puts me on a guilt trip for hogging her. I think it's because pregnancy is so hard for me that I feel like I deserve to hold her all I want after I worked so hard to get her here.
Anyway, with this in mind my mom got me this sling for Christmas. I have been so excited to use it, and this is the first time I put Lila in it. It is a hotsling (I'm sure those of you more computer literate than me would put the link to the website, but I don't know how to do that), and I am in love with it. Hopefully it'll keep people away from her and allow me to hold her all I want while taking care of my older kids.

Doesn't she look so comfy? She really liked it a lot. It is actually really comfortable to wear her this way. I think I will get a lot of use out of it.

Easter 2008

Not the best picture, but we'll take what we can get. We were going to be late for church if we kept trying.

Sunny was so excited to see her Easter presents at Mimi's. She grabbed everything up at once.

Matching dresses for the egg hunt.

Posing with her eggs.

Too busy to stop for a picture.

First Bath

Can you tell she hated it?

Feeling better. Nice and Clean and Dry.

Sweet Liley

This morning, right when Jackson woke up he came into our room to find Lila. I had put Lila in our bed and he cuddled up next to her. He is such a good big brother. His nickname for her is "Sweet Liley." He always calls her that and is so sweet with her. She really likes him and always calms down when he holds her or talks to her. He says he is her favorite, and I think he's right.
She is so comfy in her little cocoon. This was in the morning after she slept almost six hours straight the night before. It was WONDERFUL!!

Happy St. Patricks Day, and some other stuff

Happy St. Patricks Day,
Love,
Lila Cate
This afternoon we got the call that Lila's billirubin levels were too high and she needed to go under the lights. They were delivered to our house and Lila has to be under them 24 hours a day. She can only come out to eat and have her diaper changed. We expect her to have to stay under them for at least 2 or 3 days.

It looks pretty uncomfortable, but she actually really likes the little bed!

Lila is Home!!

In the Hospital

With Daddy

We can't figure out who she looks like. She doesn't look like Jackson or Sunny.

I love the green flower bow the nursers put in her hair. Ryan said they had a good time fixing her hair in nursery. She had a pretty good mohawk going for awhile.

Getting ready to come home. They pulled out her IV just before we left and she was mad!!

Lila's Time in The Nursery

About 30 mintues after she was born, the nurse noticed that Lila was having a hard time breathing. They took her to the nursery and put her on the CPAP machine to help open her lungs and make it easier for her. After a couple hours they took her off to see if she was better. She had improved a little, but was still struggling a little. They decided to let us have her and just watch her closely through the night. The doctors said it is very common in babies born right around 37 weeks because their little lungs are just barely reaching maturity. I think she looks a lot like Jackson in these pictures b/c of all the tubes and wires.

I don't know why she looks so big in these pictures. She's not really very chubby in real life.

Trying to breathe on her own after they turned off the machine.

Lila's Birth

I was scheduled to be induced on the 14th, at just over 37 weeks. I've had problems with my blood pressure for awhile, so that was the reason, even though it had been holding steady for a couple weeks. Luckily, my labor only lasted 3 hours, unfortunately, my epidural didn't work, so I got the joy of experiencing a natural child birth (not something I want to experience again!!) Lila was 7 pounds 4 ounces and 19 inches long. Very good size for being 3 weeks early. We were very surprised as we were expecting a 6 pounder.

We will post pictures and details very soon. For now we hope to get a little sleep tonight. Thanks for all who have been so kind to us.

37 Weeks!!!

Unfortunately I'm not the best at taking pictures of myself. Actually, I think these are the only pictures we have of me pregnant (except for maybe a couple back at Christmas). And yes, I know I'm tiny. My doctor actually quit measuring me couple of weeks ago because my belly was so far behind. Luckily we know Lila is a good size, so we are not worried about her.

Lila will be here on Friday, March 14th!! We are so excited and I can't wait. I'm so happy that we made it to 37 weeks (and my Doctor is even happier). There have been a lot of scary moments during this pregnancy, so to be at this point is great. What's even greater is that my doctor understands how bad I'm feeling and how sick I am and is letting us have her 2 1/2 weeks early! We'll update with her birth story and pictures as soon as we can.

Daddy's Last Day Off Before Lila Comes --Part 3

Jax absolutely loved the Mayan. He thought it was the coolest place ever, and wants to have his birthday there next month.

Sunny on the other hand did NOT like the Mayan. These pictures are completely deceiving. She cried almost the entire time and sat in my lap for most of lunch. She was scared of the noise, the divers, the lights, the trees, pretty much everything. She stopped crying long enough to make some goofy faces for the camera though. On the way out I asked if she liked it. She said "Yes, it was fun, but lets never go there again!!" Then she said that when Jax had his b-day party there she would just stay home with a babysitter.

Daddy's Last Day Off Before Lila Comes -- Part 2

After the Bean Museum we headed out to the Mayan. The kids were so excited. These are all from outside the restaurant before we ever got inside.

(Except this one, which is obviously inside )

Daddy's Last Day Off Before Lila Comes

We decided we needed to have one last fun day as a family of 4. Today is Ryan's last day off until Lila is born so wanted the kids to have a great time, even though both of them are still pretty sick. We started off the day at the Bean Museum. Sunny was very scared of getting too close to the animals, which was strange b/c last time we went she loved it. After a couple of breakdowns, and a lot of coaxing, we finally got her to pose for some pictures.
