It Hurts To Be Beautiful

I've been doing Sunny's hair since she was 6 weeks old. Back then it was a teeny-tiny pony tail on top of her head with a baby bow. By the time she was 10 months old it was two pig tails, curled, with two bows. Now getting her hair done consists of washing, blow drying, flat ironing, curling, numerous styles that involve lots of pulling and twisting, and of course, the ever larger bow. My mom can't believe that she lets me do all of this without crying.
I told her the secret is this, since before Sunny could talk I would tell her, "It hurts to be beautiful!" Obviously it sunk in really well. If she starts to complain I just ask her, "What do we say about getting our hair done?" And she always answers back, "It hurts to be beautiful." Usually followed by "I want to be beautiful, do it good."
Fresh out of the shower with tangly hair.

Next we comb it out.

I'm the one who blow drys it, but she wanted to pretend for the picture.

The final result.

Showing off the new bow we made. (Lila has a matching one). Sunny picked out the flowers and the diamonds for the middle. We made them together last night and she loves them.

I Heart Power Rangers and My Daddy

Daddy and His Girls

The other night I found Ryan reading to Sunny and Lila. I realized it was the first time we had ever read to Lila and decided to get some pictures.

Since you can't tell from the other pictures, this is how much Lila liked it! She was totally into looking at the pages, and as always, she loved the attention. She is such a good sweet baby (which is totally opposite from her first 8 weeks or so). We are so in love with her sweet smile!

Just Because She's Cute

The Aftermath of Spending the Night With Aunt Jess

Sunny spent the night with Aunt Jess last week and she had a wonderful time. She tried on high heels, painted nails, wore make-up, and watched Beyonce on DVD. Apparantly she had so much fun that she didn't want to come home.
Actually, she was okay when I picked her up, but when we got about a block from our house I looked in the mirror and saw that she was slumped over in her carseat. When I asked what was wrong she completely broke down sobbing. She said she just wanted Aunt Jess, she missed her too much and needed to go back. It was sweet and kinda cute at first, but this crying fit lasted about an hour. I took this picture as she was curled up in a ball on my bed. She's already talking about when she is going back to Aunt Jess. She is the best Aunt ever and we are so glad to have her in our family.

The New Hair Style

I guess this isn't the best picture of the hair, but we got some gel (courtesy of Aunt Jess) and this is the awesome result. He loves it. (I have to admit I really like it too)
