I know gas prices have been sucking money out of our wallets and frustrating many of us. Maybe one day there is an end to these prices. Here is an interesting article about oil in the U.S. http://www.stansberryresearch.com/PRO/0704OILCOL49/WOILH705/200704OIL-COL-49.html
For now and in the future lets all try to conserve and drive less if possible. Who knows maybe one day I might even try the bus.

I can hear Brad's heart pitter patter from here. The bus is Brad's second wife and he's very much in love with her. Sometimes I get jealous because often he spends spends more time with her than me, AND, unlike me, she's actually SAVES him money.
Yes, I agree, we all need to be conscious about how much we drive. Even if you are not doing it for environmental reasons, do it for your own pocket book!
Gina, tsk tsk, you didn't read the article Ike posted though. It's talking about the oil shale that your company is working on. www.millenniumsynfuels.com :-) **shameless plug for Gina's office**
Up until now, it's been too expensive to extract this shale oil, (that's why we've actually known about it for years but never been able to do anything with it) but now it's about the same price to extract a barrel of oil from shale than to buy a barrel of crude. So, with the price of fuel rising, it is matching the cost of extracting the oil from the shale with current technology. And the technology that Gina's company is working on will make it cheaper still.
Great post Ike!
PS, just a bit of trivia, the world uses roughly 83 million barrels of oil per day (30.2 billion barrels per year). At that current rate, the world would burn through 2 trillion barrels in 66 years assuming no increase in oil usage over those years, which is of course unlikely because the world is not getting any smaller.
I'm a horrible, no good, very bad person becaue I love to cruise the town in my mini van.
Wow! I truly thought I was reading a post on Brads blog there for a second...
Conserving, come on is that really the answer? Let's burn it up, then we'll be forced to come up with a better answer. Things happen when people our in a tight spot. Until then it's just to political.
Good post Blairs (I'm assuming Ike)
You should ask BD how much you actually save riding the bus, it's quite a bit
Cole, good point about what people do in a tight spot.
I couldn't help but comment on how much I save since Cole brought it up :-) Riding the bus/bike enabled us to sell one of our cars, so the total savings for us is $140/month. And that was with a 30mpg car (pretty decent) and not including any maintenance, only fuel and insurance. So, to say the least, it has been very worth it. Over this last year, we've saved roughly $140 X 12 = $1680 with only this minor change. Not bad in my opinion (plus I get a nap on the bus every day I ride).
