This drives me NUTS!!!

I cannot stand when people send their sick kids to preschool, nursery, primary, family dinners, my house, etc. I'm sure you get the point. What is wrong with people. How about when your kid is sick you stay home and don't go spreading their germs to everyone you know. This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but I just wish people would think before taking their kids out sick.

Here's the thing.... To most kids a cold is no big deal. They might have a cough or a runny nose for a few days and then they get over it. That's how it is if Sunny gets sick. Jackson is a different story. I don't think people realize that not every kids can just "get over it". Poor little Jackson has asthma. When he gets a cold it is a huge deal for us. Since Septmeber I think we have been to the doctors office probably 15 times. I try to give him a couple weeks to get over a cold, but it never fails that I have to take him in for steroid shots and a course of antibiotics. In the meantime he is missing preschool, not sleeping, coughing up a lung, and feeling misearable in general.

Our latest round of sickness started the last week of November. He came down with a cold. The next week was when the whole "toothpick incident" happened and we went to the doctor 4 times in a week and a half. After that was over his cold was getting worse and worse and he couldn't breathe well. I waited till after Christmas to take him to the doctor. He needed steriod shots (again) and antibiotics. Unfortunately, the meds didn't work and he had to take a second round of more powerful antibiotics. He is finally well now, but everywhere I turn there are sick kids hacking on him. Seriously people.

Just so you know, everyday Jax takes his inhaler twice a day, singular once, and has an albuteral inhaler for emergencies (which only happen when he has a stupid cold). Since November he's had all that plus the steriod shots and 20 days of antibiotics. All for a cold. This is so crazy to me and frustrating to deal with I wish people could understand what they were doing to Jax when they send their sick kids around him. I also wish they understood what it does to me. I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant on bedrest for Heaven's sake. Do you really think I want to pack up both my kids, drive through the snow, and sit at the Doctors office full of more sick kids? Plus, it gets so dang expensive. If you don't want to pay my medical bills quit getting my kid sick.

I know this is getting long, but I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO annoyed at people right now. I really don't want to be a bitch to people and tell them to get their kid away from me and out of my house when they're sick, but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to be for the sake of my kid. So, please, don't send your kids out sick. It really is dangerous to some kids and a huge deal. Teach your kids to wash their hands, and how to cough in their arm instead of all over my kids toys. PLEASE!!

people are stupid and i completely agree with you. when we eventually have kids we're always gonna keep them healthy, and not contaminate everything that involves other people. its just polite.

I agree Sarah. But I think we need to keep the language a little cleaner. We don't want others to know that you cuss like a sailor. We are not in the military, this the blair family blog. We may need to put some restrictions on the computer.

Ryan, that is so funny. I read that thinking maybe it was someone in your family, and thinking I wonder if they really are serious!
I totally agree. We had someone over at our house coughing all over, and I didn't dare to say anything. The next day we found out the child went to the hospital with nuemonia!(I have no idea how to spell that) Rad hu!

Cole, I don't think my mom knows what a link is. I agree that you live on the edge. I often think I should talk to your wife about getting you some help with your out of control lifestyle.

Oh no Sarah, now you have me all worried that we wre sick around you...but I don't think we were...were we? I don't think we were. We don't let Viana go to nursery when she's sick...or playgroup...hopefully not Mary's house either! Now I have guilt! Just tell me if it's me...but I don't think it was...

No, Viana and Brooke didn't look sick to me. Trust me, I check everyone. This was just a general vent about what has happened all winter by lots of people.

I took the kids to fhe group at Arctic Circle today and about had a panic attack b/c of all the coughing going on. I made them wash their hands in the middle of playing and when we got home. I think I'm a bit OCD.

We should just get rid of all children together. And that was some funny profanity. Oh, and I'm in the bean museum every tuesday and thursday morning. I always think i'm gonna see jackson and mae there when I'm leaving.
