Lila's Time in The Nursery

About 30 mintues after she was born, the nurse noticed that Lila was having a hard time breathing. They took her to the nursery and put her on the CPAP machine to help open her lungs and make it easier for her. After a couple hours they took her off to see if she was better. She had improved a little, but was still struggling a little. They decided to let us have her and just watch her closely through the night. The doctors said it is very common in babies born right around 37 weeks because their little lungs are just barely reaching maturity. I think she looks a lot like Jackson in these pictures b/c of all the tubes and wires.

I don't know why she looks so big in these pictures. She's not really very chubby in real life.

Trying to breathe on her own after they turned off the machine.

Lila's Birth

I was scheduled to be induced on the 14th, at just over 37 weeks. I've had problems with my blood pressure for awhile, so that was the reason, even though it had been holding steady for a couple weeks. Luckily, my labor only lasted 3 hours, unfortunately, my epidural didn't work, so I got the joy of experiencing a natural child birth (not something I want to experience again!!) Lila was 7 pounds 4 ounces and 19 inches long. Very good size for being 3 weeks early. We were very surprised as we were expecting a 6 pounder.

37 Weeks!!!

Unfortunately I'm not the best at taking pictures of myself. Actually, I think these are the only pictures we have of me pregnant (except for maybe a couple back at Christmas). And yes, I know I'm tiny. My doctor actually quit measuring me couple of weeks ago because my belly was so far behind. Luckily we know Lila is a good size, so we are not worried about her.

Lila will be here on Friday, March 14th!! We are so excited and I can't wait. I'm so happy that we made it to 37 weeks (and my Doctor is even happier). There have been a lot of scary moments during this pregnancy, so to be at this point is great. What's even greater is that my doctor understands how bad I'm feeling and how sick I am and is letting us have her 2 1/2 weeks early! We'll update with her birth story and pictures as soon as we can.

Daddy's Last Day Off Before Lila Comes --Part 3

Jax absolutely loved the Mayan. He thought it was the coolest place ever, and wants to have his birthday there next month.

Sunny on the other hand did NOT like the Mayan. These pictures are completely deceiving. She cried almost the entire time and sat in my lap for most of lunch. She was scared of the noise, the divers, the lights, the trees, pretty much everything. She stopped crying long enough to make some goofy faces for the camera though. On the way out I asked if she liked it. She said "Yes, it was fun, but lets never go there again!!" Then she said that when Jax had his b-day party there she would just stay home with a babysitter.

Daddy's Last Day Off Before Lila Comes -- Part 2

After the Bean Museum we headed out to the Mayan. The kids were so excited. These are all from outside the restaurant before we ever got inside.

(Except this one, which is obviously inside )

Daddy's Last Day Off Before Lila Comes

We decided we needed to have one last fun day as a family of 4. Today is Ryan's last day off until Lila is born so wanted the kids to have a great time, even though both of them are still pretty sick. We started off the day at the Bean Museum. Sunny was very scared of getting too close to the animals, which was strange b/c last time we went she loved it. After a couple of breakdowns, and a lot of coaxing, we finally got her to pose for some pictures.
